Our Story
Mamamigo Ltd and Xpanda Bra founder, Declan McDonnell, has extensive experience in the lingerie manufacturing industry, having previously worked for one of the UK’s biggest bra manufacturers. Recognising a gap in the market for maternity underwear and nursing bras for breastfeeding mothers, he took his knowledge of manufacturing and introduced Xpanda Bra to grateful women around the world.
Our Concept
The concept of Xpanda Bra was born as a result of Declan’s wife Diane, a breastfeeding mother, experiencing discomfort with ordinary nursing bras which did not accommodate her fluctuating breast size whilst breastfeeding.
Declan decided to carry out some research to establish what was available on the maternity nursing bra market. Being unable to identify any suitable products, he approached Innovate-Design and with their help, tests, trials, several prototypes, support from experts within the lingerie industry and their extremely professional technologist and seamstress, he came up with the final product. Xpanda Bra is the answer to the discomfort caused by traditional bras to pregnant and nursing mothers which cannot accommodate their changing body shape.
After initially setting up the company Declan gained investment from a private source. Xpanda Bra maternity nursing bras are now sold in the UK, Ireland and worldwide.
